Bikers that Care is an non profitable group and started in 2006 with one couple, organizing and hosting our first charity event, the Nappy Run at the Dock in Warmbaths. The Nappy Run idea was initiated by Johan Steyn in aid of Home Talje, a home for mentally and physically disabled children in Warmbaths.
We grew in stature and we got bigger and bigger each year. In 2007 the group grew with 2 more members and we did our second Nappy Run and our first Limpopo Toy Run. We started collecting building material and in 2008, we made it possible to erect a new therapy room for Home Talje and named it: Bikers That Care Therapy Room, as homage to all bikers that contributed.
2009, was our best year so far. We hosted the Cansa Shavathon, Nappy Run and the first Pretoria & Limpopo Toy Run, which was a big event with ± 5000 motorbikes. With the Nappy Run, 16000 Nappies and R20 000 in cash was given to Home Talje.
For 2010, we have new challenges. The Nappy Run becomes the Nappy Rally, our 5th Nappy event and we really want to host a huge event.
Currently we have a whole committee, consisting of a chairman, 2 events organizers, treasurer, secretary, media liaison and 5 additional members, although we call ourselves Bikers That Care nothing will be possible without every biker that cares and we thank you.
